Performing Arts in North Carolina

CARY, NC – As the Triangle welcomes a week of international bluegrass talent, the Town of Cary will present two free outdoor opportunities to celebrate the musical genre on the final day of the IBMA World of Bluegrass Festival. As part of the Town’s Downtown Performers Series and Sertoma Series, the Claire Lynch Band, twice winner of IBMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year and two-time Grammy nominated for Best Bluegrass Album, will perform twice on Saturday, September 28, first at 2 p.m. at the Downtown Performance Green across from the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Avenue, and then at 7 p.m. at the Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park, 301 High House Road.

“This weekend, you won’t have to travel far to hear some of the best in bluegrass,” said Sarah Preston, Town of Cary Performing Arts Coordinator. “Hear bluegrass in the streets during the afternoon performance in downtown Cary, or come to Sertoma Amphitheatre that night for a more intimate affair.” At both concerts, picnics, lawn chairs and leashed pets are welcome; alcohol is not permitted.

In the event of inclement weather, real-time concert information will be available at (919) 462-3969 three hours before the concert.

The Sertoma Series will conclude on September 29 with a performance of “Brass at Bond.” Comedian John Floyd will conclude the Downtown Performers Series on October 12. For more, search “Downtown Performers Series” and “Sertoma Series” at http://www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469-4061.
