Artist Background

Julie Z. Russo is a writer and artist with a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor of literature degree from the George Washington University. Her articles and illustrations have appeared in national newspapers and journals. She is a former writer for the National Undersea Research Program, the designer of the NOAA diversity logo, and a literature finalist for the Headlands Center for the Arts.  Julie is the publisher of the City Serene News Service, an arts and parks website. Since 2005, she has taught integrated arts and literary workshops and residencies in community centers and schools.
